SANTA ANA (CBS) — A 27-year-old motorist was killed Sunday when his car hit a tree in Santa Ana.
Francisco Becerra died at the scene, according to the Coroner’s Office.
A white 1995 BMW hit the median, then a tree, in the 1300 block of Fairview Street in a wreck reported at 2:18 a.m, Santa Ana police Cmdr. Larry Coleman said.
The BMW was going north “when the driver lost control and went up on the raised center median,” Coleman said. “A side-impact collision with a tree killed the driver.”
A front-seat passenger had no visible injuries but was taken to a hospital to be checked, he said. Investigating officers did not immediately know if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
