Shots Fired At Glendale Park Following Brawl

GLENDALE (CBS) — Shots were fired at a Glendale park where more than a dozen men were seen fighting Thursday afternoon.

There were several reports of gunfire at about 1:30 p.m. out of Fremont Park, where witnesses told police they saw about 15 males of Middle Eastern descent fighting in the parking lot south of Fremont Park, Glendale police spokesman Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. Witnesses reported hearing between four and 10 gunshots.

The male with the gun was seen falling to the ground, before getting up and running east toward Burchett. Other men involved in the fight left the scene in vehicles, including a light-colored SUV and a black truck.

Glendale Police SWAT team and K9 unit, with the help of Burbank's K9s, are searching the area where the gunman was seen fleeing on foot, Lorenz said.

The Parks Department reported that there was a wading pool party at Fremont Park when the shots were fired. The lifeguard on duty for the party rushed all of the participants into a restroom for cover and called 911.

There have been no reports of injuries or gunshot victims.
