Police Searching For Stepbrother Of Man Found Dead In SUV

FAIRFAX DISTRICT (CBS) — A man found dead inside a Cadillac Escalade parked near the Melrose strip has been identified as 32-year-old Steven John Simmons, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Running Springs resident died from a gunshot wound to his chest, the coroner's office announced Tuesday.

Authorities have not established a motive for the murder but investigators are looking to speak with the victim's stepbrother,  Jacob Anthonisen, who has been reported missing.

Those who know Anthonisen are wondering if he is dead, running for police or in fear for his life.

CBS2 visited Anthonisen's last known address and his landlord said he was evicted years ago for not paying rent.

Simmons' body was discovered after a passerby notified police about the vehicle -- and a foul stench emanating from it -- at 10 a.m. Saturday. The SUV was parked near Willoughby and Genesee avenues, two blocks northeast of Fairfax High School.
