Boyle Heights Man Arrested After 7-Hour Standoff
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles man has been taken into custody after police say he threatened his mother with knives and barricaded himself in a home for more than seven hours.
City News Service says police shot the man with a stun gun through a window of his Boyle Heights home at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
His name hasn't been released.
Sgt. Peter Gamino says the man was sharpening knives in the kitchen at around 6:30 p.m. Monday and told his mother he was going to use them on her when he was finished.
She ran out of the home and called police. Gamino says during the standoff, the man threatened to open gas lines and blow up the house so firefighters cut off the gas supply.
