'Mike & Molly's' Mark Roberts Spills Secrets Behind The Curtains Of His Hit Plays

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Ugly Dog Productions is proud to announce the return of "Couples Counseling Killed Katie," a one‐act play written by Mark Roberts (creator, "Mike & Molly"). Roberts stopped by KCAL9 Thursday to talk about his two plays coming up this summer.

"Couples Counseling Killed Katie" is a provocative, dark comedy about a poet who is murdered by her manager/husband. Set in a counselor's office and told through the personal accounts of seven different couples, the story takes you on an outrageous and hilarious journey of love, hate and murder.

On the heels of an award winning season, Roberts' "Where The Great Ones Run" also heads back to the stage.

The play follows a country music legend named Sonny Burl. He returns to his hometown to perform a concert at the Indiana county fair and to try to connect with the wife he never divorced, the brother he abandoned, and the grown daughter he never got to know. His bittersweet homecoming fuels an unforgettable collision of the strong and the wise, and is a reminder of how fame gets in the way of life, love and ultimately death.
