Update (12:34 p.m.): Ajax has been found. He was caught by a humane trap that was placed in brush near the Savi Ranch Center in Yorba Linda.
YORBA LINDA (CBS) — A German Shepherd Dog in need of immediate medical attention was reported missing Wednesday at the Savi Ranch Center in Yorba Linda, according to German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County.
The dog named Ajax was being transported to Yorba Regional Animal Hospital when he escaped from the back of a car Wednesday, June 6, GSROC said in a released statement.
Ajax was neutered and had undergone surgery to repair an amputated tail the previous day, GSROC said.
He was last seen in the brush behind the Home Depot in the shopping center wearing a red collar with a leash still attached. He was not wearing tags and does not have a microchip Implant.
GSROC explained that Ajax, who is friendly with people and children, had been a stray and is known to hide in bushes. The rescue said he may be fearful and hungry and that he had been medicated at the time of his escape.
Anyone with information was asked to call (714) 292-9135.
