Tommy Lasorda Treated At Hospital For 'Mild' Heart Attack

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Dodgers Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda is resting at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York  after suffering a "mild" heart attack on Monday.

Doctors inserted a stent to correct a blocked artery in Lasorda's heart. He is resting comfortably and in stable condition.

He is expected to be released in a couple of days.

"The doctors confirmed I do bleed Dodger Blue," Lasorda joked. "I'm looking forward to being back at the stadium to cheer on the Dodgers."

The heart attack was first reported by TMZ on Tuesday afternoon.

"People started to worry once he didn't show up today for the morning issue of what they were doing for the draft," TMZ's Mike Walters told KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO.

Back in 1996, Lasorda suffered a heart attack while still the manager of the Dodgers.

The 84-year-old is in New York representing the Dodgers in Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft.

He is expected to be released from the hospital on Wednesday.
