COMPTON (AP) — Authorities say a woman was killed and three others were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Compton.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Peter Gomez said Saturday that the victims were gathered outside a house late Friday when an SUV pulled up to them. Gomez said someone inside fired into the crowd, striking two women and two men, before the SUV sped off.

Three people were rushed to a hospital. A woman was pronounced dead there while a man remained in critical condition and another man in stable condition.

Gomez said a second woman was treated at the scene for a gunshot wound.

Detectives were investigating the motive for the attack.
