LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A woman suspected of posing as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent was behind bars.
Federal agents arrested 47-year-old Araceli Martinez at Los Angeles International Airport just minutes before she was expected to board a flight for Mexico, authorities said.
According to authorities, Martinez is accused of preying on illegal immigrants by posing as an ICE agent.
Investigators say she told 14 victims she could get legal resident status for them if they paid her up to $8,000 apiece.
Martinez was booked at Century Regional Detention Facility on suspicion of theft by false pretenses. Bail was set for $335,000, authorities said.
