LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Officials are searching for a fourth suspect in the kidnapping and torture of a Pico Rivera couple.
Francisco Barraza, 35, George Karavalos, 33, and Alfonso Acuna, 32, were arrested May 23 for allegedly kidnapping a man and woman 10 days earlier.
The male victim was held in a garage at a home in the 8800 block of Clarinda Avenue in Pico Rivera for five days while his wife was ordered to bring back $6,000 to secure his release. He was subjected to torture and death threats until he escaped, according to police.
Police say they’re now looking for 49-year-old Javier Francis. All of the men are believed to be members of the “Rivera 13” street gang.
Prosecutors say the couple owed Karavalos money.
