Man Gunned Down While Paying Respects To Murder Victim

SAN BERNARDINO (CBS) — A 19-year-old man was gunned down early Tuesday morning while visiting a memorial where his friend was shot and killed.

Greg Gonzales was killed in the 200 block of South Lenore Avenue near Congress in San Bernardino.

Gonzales' homicide marks the twelfth this month in this city.

"The suspects have been arrested in five of those so far," said Capt. Gwen Waters of the San Bernardino Police Department.

Police say the May murders have one or two common threads – drugs and/or gangs.

Police tell Greg Mills, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, that Gonzales was not in a gang and arrested 21-year-old Esequiel Cisneros of Rialto on suspicion of murder.

Authorities say they do not believe that the general populace in San Bernardino is in imminent danger.

"So as long as they are looking out for themselves and making good choices, the pattern has shown that their probably pretty safe," Waters added.
