Gang Members Sentenced For Robbing 2 OC Jewelry Stores

WESTMINSTER (AP) — Prosecutors say two San Diego gang members have been handed lengthy sentences for their roles in the armed robberies of two Orange County jewelry stores in 2009.

A DA's office spokeswoman says 32-year-old Michael Burgin was sentenced to 90 years to life in prison for his felony convictions.

This was Burgin's third strike. He had prior strike convictions in 1999 and 2002.

Adam Weick was sentenced to 21 years in prison for a slew of felonies, including second-degree robbery and street terrorism.

The two were involved in the August 2009 robberies of Tustin Village Jewelers and Baca Jewelers in Laguna Beach.

Burgin and Weick were the last of 12 defendants to be sentenced for their roles in the crime spree.
