$20K Reward Offered In Shooting Death Of Former Army Sergeant

MONTEREY PARK (CBS) — City leaders, law enforcement officers and family members Tuesday announced a $20,000 reward for information in the murder of a former Army sergeant.

Nathen Taylor, 30, was fatally shot in front of his brother's home in the 700 block of West Avenue H-7 in Lancaster just before midnight on April 21.

Taylor had just left a party because he didn't like to be around a lot of drinking, according to his brother, Patrick. Taylor called Patrick to say he would be dropping by his house within a few minutes.

Shortly thereafter, Patrick heard gunshots and found Taylor slumped over his steering wheel in front of the home.

"My brother was a righteous man. My brother loved everyone. He had no enemies, no hatred towards anyone," Patrick Taylor told CBS2 last month.

Taylor, who served three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, was studying computer software and engineering at Antelope Valley College.

He left behind a fiancée and a young daughter.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau at (323)890-5500.
