Brush Fire Near Lake Mathews Now Fully Contained

RIVERSIDE (CBS) — A brush fire that scorched about 256 acres near Lake Mathews in Riverside County was now fully contained.

The fire started about 3:38 p.m. Sunday near La Sierra Avenue and Lakepointe Drive.

According to authorities, the blaze was fanned by the gusty winds and very dry brush and burned an entire canyon in less than an hour.

No homes or structures were lost.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
