YAS-a-thon Enlists Participants To Blast Calories While Raising Money For Cancer Research

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Riders will blast calories while raising money for cancer research at the annual YAS-a-thon fundraiser on June 3.

Kimberly Fowler visited KCAL9 Saturday to discuss the event – which is like a charity walk, except that participants ride a stationary bike. The events are hosted at YAS Fitness Centers, studios she founded across the Southland dedicated to combining spinning and yoga.

A brain tumor survivor, Fowler has partnered with the L.A. Dodger's Think Cure! charity, which funds cutting-edge cancer research at City of hope and Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Pre-ride kickoff parties, featuring premier silent auctions and raffle prizes, will be held the evening before the event on Saturday, June 2nd, at YAS Venice and Costa Mesa locations. Lucky bidders will score a coveted private party at James Beach, nights at Hotel Erwin, flights on JetBlue, signed Dodger Memorabilia and much more. Food will be provided by Bayou City and music spun by DJ Rafael DeLa Cruz.

Sponsored by Vita Coco and Smart Water, the event boasts exclusive prizes for top fundraisers. The rider who raises the most money to fight cancer will win a $12,000 all-inclusive holiday to Fiji, including flights and accommodations at a 5-star private island resort, courtesy of Fiji Vacations (www.fijivacations.com). Other top fundraisers will take home additional sponsor prizes like throwing out the first pitch at a LA Dodger's home game, designer wares, luxury trips, 5-star meals, and more.
