Girl, 10, Is Hit By Pickup Truck Driver Suspected Of DUI In Buena Park

BUENA PARK (CBS) — A 10-year-old girl is in serious to extreme condition after being hit by a pickup truck in Buena Park.

The accident occurred about 6:45 p.m. Friday.

The girl was reportedly crossing the street in the 7500 block of Franklin Street, near her home.

Police arrested 48-year-old Edward McLaughlin of Newport Beach and charged with him suspicion of drunk driving, according to Sgt. Roger Powell of the Buena Park Police Department.

Authorities said the girl may have darted out into traffic helping to contribute to the accident.

The unidentified girl was reportedly taken to UCI Medical Center.

McLaughlin was released from the city jail after posting bond.
