Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (May 23)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Strong winds have been howling in our mountains and up in the high desert. High wind warnings are now in effect for the northern portions of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

By contrast, a weak coastal eddy has brought cloud cover to Orange County and the Los Angeles Basin. We can even see a little bit of that marine layer creeping into the San Gabriel Valley.

Everyone else is looking at clear skies this morning. A trough will dive into the southwest by Friday and Saturday, which is going to cool us down a bunch.

The winds will continue as a byproduct of that trough through the end of the week.

The start of the holiday weekend will probably be cool and cloudy, but by Sunday and Monday, temperatures rebound.

Memorial Day right now looks pretty good with highs near normal (mid 70s downtown and mid 80s for the valleys).

Beaches - low 70s
Basin - mid to upper 70s
Valleys - upper 80s to low 90s
Deserts - upper 80s to low 90s
Mountains - low 70s
