Family Of Missing Burbank FBI Agent Seeks Help From Public

BURBANK (CBS) — The wife and mother of missing FBI Agent Steve Ivens will appeal to the public Wednesday for help in finding him.

A 3 p.m. news conference was scheduled in front of the Burbank police station, according to police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

The 35-year-old special agent, who works in the FBI's Los Angeles office, went missing on the evening of May 11.

He was last seen at his home in the 1700 block of Scott Road and may have walked into the Verdugo Mountains.

Earlier, police said Ivens was despondent and possibly suicidal, and that he apparently took his FBI handgun with him.

In an open letter a few days after the disappearance, Ivens' wife Thea wrote:

"Steve is more than just a missing person. He is a father, a husband, a son, a brother, a nephew, a friend and a colleague in this community. Steve, if you are out there listening right now, your wife wants to let you know,`Babe, we are in this together for better or for worse. I love you, no matter what happens.' ..."

The family also created a Facebook page titled "Let's Bring Steve Home."

Ivens is white, about 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, with brown eyes and receding brown hair. He wears prescription glasses.
