Otto Jensen, 101, Struck, Killed By Elderly Woman In Burbank

BURBANK (CBS) —  Otto Jensen, a well-known Burbank photographer who served as grand marshal of last year's centennial Burbank on Parade, died Tuesday after being hit by a car driven by an elderly woman. He was 101.

Jensen was walking south across Olive Avenue, at Griffith Park Drive, about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle driven by Mary Beaumont, 91, said Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn. He was transported to Saint Joseph's Medical Center where he later died.

Beaumont stopped at the scene and was interviewed by police, but she was not arrested or cited.

Jensen was not in a marked crosswalk, but he was crossing legally, and had nearly made it across the street when he was fatally injured, Ryburn said.

There is no stop sign or traffic signal on Olive Avenue at that intersection, the sergeant said.
