Irvine Man Arrested For Alleged Murder Of His Wife

IRVINE (CBS) — An Orange County man is in police custody Tuesday for allegedly killing his 40-year-old wife.

Shalabh Rastogi, 39, was arrested late Monday night for murder.

According to Irvine police, authorities received a call around 9:40 p.m. from Rastogi saying that he had killed his wife at their Irvine apartment.

When officers arrived, they found the body of a woman.

"Rastogi was cooperative with officers and was immediately detained," officials said in a statement.

He was booked into the Orange County Jail where he is being held on $1 million bail.

The couple had been married for 13 years and had three school aged children, according to police.

Officials didn't not release how the woman was killed or if a weapon was used. The Orange County Coroner's Office is conducting the investigation into the exact cause of death.
