COMPTON (CBS) — Police chased down a suspect in South Los Angeles, near the 105 Freeway, according to emergency dispatchers.

The man raced through South Central streets, often spinning out of control and ramming into parked cars.

“He’s driving like a maniac,” SKY9′s Stu Mundel reported.

At about 10:30 p.m. the suspect slammed into two LAPD patrol cars and then fled on foot.

Officers and sheriff’s deputies quickly tackled the suspect and took him into custody near the intersection of Wadsworth Avenue and Billings Street.
