Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (May 18)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — There is a marine layer out across the Southland Friday morning. Those low clouds have been able to penetrate some valleys as a trough of low pressure is moving into the west coast.

Friday will be the coolest out of the extended period. We are only expected to top out in the lower 70s downtown with upper 70s to near 80 in the valley.

The cloud cover should break up by mid-day. A ridge will build in behind this trough, so we can expect a general warming trend into the weekend. By Sunday we should be back into the upper 80s for the valleys and mid to upper 70s for the basin.

The gusty winds late last night and early this morning are diminishing in the LA area, but still howling up in Santa Barbara County. The advisories will expire to the south, but may need to be extended to the north.

Beaches -upper 60s
Basin -low 70s
Valleys - upper 70s
Deserts - low 80s
Mountains - mid 60s
