WILMINGTON (CBS) — A 16-year-old was shot in the neck Friday evening while attending a school carnival.

A suspect, described as a Hispanic male in a blue hoodie, was seen fleeing the scene.

The unidentified victim was reportedly breathing and conscious.

Dave Bryan, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, says the victim was shot with a small caliber weapon, possibly a pellet gun.

At least five patrol cars appeared on-scene within minutes, said witnesses.

The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. He is listed in stable condition.

Los Angeles Police from the Harbor division are investigating.
