Woman Driving On The 101 Surprised To Find She'd Been Shot At

CALABASAS (CBS) —  A woman driving on the Ventura (101) Freeway through Calabasas Thursday heard a loud noise that she initially thought was a blown tire, but turned out to be a gunshot that hit her car, authorities said.

The motorist, whose name was not released, was eastbound between Las Virgenes Road and Parkway Calabasas about 4:30 a.m. when she heard the noise and pulled over. She saw what appeared to be a bullet hole in the passenger side of her silver PT Cruiser, said Sgt. Derrick Alfred of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station.

Deputies recovered an expended bullet projectile from the car's passenger compartment, he said.

The woman, who was alone in the car, was not hurt.

Anyone with information was asked to call sheriff's Sgt. Alfred at (818) 878-1808.
