STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Look for a cooling trend for the next couple of days. A trough is moving into the West Coast, accompanied by a strong on-shore flow here in Southern California.

This has helped the marine layer to develop, but more importantly, it’s kicking up some advisory level winds up in the high desert.

Watch for the worst of it this afternoon and evening. There will be partly cloudy skies as the trough passes and temperatures will drop down from the 80s we saw yesterday.

Later tonight into Friday morning, the marine layer could be strong enough to squeeze out some drizzle. A ridge nudges over for the weekend to warm us up a little bit, however, inland cities will notice the warm up more than basin and coastal cities. A warming trend will continue into next week.

Beaches – upper 60s
Basin – mid 70s
Valleys – mid 80s
Deserts – low 90s
Mountains – mid 70s
