Jewelry Store Thief Gets Away With 2 Rolex Watches Worth Nearly $65K

CENTURY CITY (CBS) — Surveillance footage of a robber who stole two Rolex watches worth $64,900 from a Century City mall jewelry store was released Thursday.

Police say they were called out to investigate a robbery in the shopping center at 4:50 p.m. on May 10. Arriving officers found a security guard suffering from minor injuries.

The robber walked into the jewelry store and asked an employee to show him some watches. The robber grabbed one from the tray and a second watch from the employee’s hand and ran toward the exit.

He was tackled by a security guard, but managed to break free and run south through the mall toward Constellation Boulevard.

The guard was treated at the scene by paramedics.

The suspect was described as a black man between 23 and 26 years old, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6 and weighing between 130 and 145 pounds.

Anyone with information about the robbery’s identity or the robbery can call West Los Angeles area robbery Detective Stanley Evans at (310) 444-1520.
