Jewelry Store Thief Gets Away With 2 Rolex Watches Worth Nearly $65K
CENTURY CITY (CBS) — Surveillance footage of a robber who stole two Rolex watches worth $64,900 from a Century City mall jewelry store was released Thursday.
Police say they were called out to investigate a robbery in the shopping center at 4:50 p.m. on May 10. Arriving officers found a security guard suffering from minor injuries.
The robber walked into the jewelry store and asked an employee to show him some watches. The robber grabbed one from the tray and a second watch from the employee's hand and ran toward the exit.
He was tackled by a security guard, but managed to break free and run south through the mall toward Constellation Boulevard.
The guard was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The suspect was described as a black man between 23 and 26 years old, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6 and weighing between 130 and 145 pounds.
