Father Of 3 Gunned Down In Front Of Wife, Daughter In El Sereno

EL SERENO (CBS) — A gunman remained at large Monday following a shooting that claimed the life of a husband and father of three.

The incident occurred Sunday night at the 5200 block of Borland Road in El Sereno.

The victim, identified as 40-year-old Damian Frausto, was seated in his car with his wife and 5-year-old daughter when he was gunned down.

The tragedy happened after a Mother's Day celebration in the neighborhood.

Homicide detectives tell CBS2's Suraya Fadel that this was a senseless and unprovoked crime and that Frausto may have been a victim of road rage.

Police tell Fadel that the victim had no criminal record.

"The suspect continued on, flipped a U-turn just half way up the street and by that time the victim and his family were just parking the car," said Detective Joe Rios of the LAPD.

"Before you know it, the victim yelled at his wife, 'get down, get down, get down.' She looked over, all she saw was a shot gun up against the window which was closed and there was two shot gun blasts into the victim's upper torso," Rios added.

Police have very few leads but are searching for two men in a black compact car.
