Search Continues For Driver In Deadly Hit-And-Run In Toluca Lake

TOLUCA LAKE (CBS) — The search continued Saturday for a driver in a deadly hit-and-run accident in Toluca Lake.

The accident in the 4100 block of Cahuenga Boulevard near Lankershim Boulevard occurred about 9 p.m. Friday.

Los Angeles police say a woman in her 50s was struck while she was pushing a shopping cart across Cahuenga Boulevard. She was killed on impact.

Police say the driver was speeding through.

Karim Azeez, a Toluca Lake resident, says speeding in the area is an all too common problem given that the area is near two busy freeways.

"I was almost hit turning off of my street onto Cahuenga and a weekend ago, a guy was side swiped here. Two years ago, a man was hit and killed in the intersection at Woodbridge and it's a problem. People speed through here all the time," said Azeez.

Although a suspect description was not available, police did say the vehicle is a dark-colored, four-door sedan.
