Authorities Trying To Identify Disabled Woman In Monrovia

MONROVIA  (CBS) —  Police are asking the public to help them identify a 50-60-something Asian woman who is unable to give authorities information about who she is.

The woman was hospitalized last month after she caused a disturbance inside a Monrovia Subway restaurant.

Police said the unidentified woman, whom they describe as mentally disabled, was eating at the Subway on April 24, about 6:40 p.m., when she appeared out of sorts.

According to Monrovia police Sgt. Patty Newman, the woman speaks English but she started speaking incoherently, perhaps using a foreign language. Police took the woman to a mental hospital.

"For two weeks they were trying to communicate with her and she won't communicate," Newton said. "We can't figure out who she is."

No fingerprint matches could be found for the woman. Police also have made no connection with any open missing persons' cases.

The woman is 4 feet 11 inches tall and about 100 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. The woman has no visible scars, marks or tattoos.
