KOREATOWN (CBS) — A driver was arrested Monday for allegedly driving under the influence of marijuana when his Jeep Wrangler fatally struck a 45-year-old pedestrian, police reported.
The fatal collision was reported just before 10 p.m. Sunday, LAPD Sgt. Cynthia Barlow said.
Marlon Molina, of Los Angeles, was jaywalking across Third Street, about 40 feet west of the Normandie Avenue intersection, when he was hit by the Jeep, which was driving eastbound on Third, Barlow said.
The driver, 28-year-old Randy Allen Matthews, stayed at the scene until police arrived. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, with bail set at $50,000.
Molina died at the scene.
