LONG BEACH (CBS) —  A man found shot and wounded on a Long Beach street Sunday had died, police said.

The wounded man was reported at 11:54 a.m. He was found in the 1100 block of Linden Avenue, Lisa Massacani of the Long Beach Police Department said.

Officers arriving at the scene found a man in the roadway with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body, Massacani said.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Massacani said.

It was unknown where the shooting happened, and the killing remained under investigation, she said.

The motive for the shooting was not known.
