Men Sought In Hospital Room Assault In Burbank

BURBANK (CBS) — Police Friday night hunted for three suspects wanted for assaulting a man at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center earlier in the day.

A patient was being visited by three men inside a hospital room, when a fourth man arrived. The other visitors apparently proceeded to attack the man, possibly with a blunt object, like a baton, Burbank police said.

The men then took off in a white SUV, police said.

A perimeter around the hospital was set up, while police the conducted an initial search. But it was lifted soon after because police said that they did not believe the men posed a threat to the public.

"It is relatively clear that this was an unplanned event. We don't have any indication of a danger to the public, these were not people looking for victims," said Burbank Police Lieutenant Matthew Ferguson.

Police said that they knew the identities of the men being sought.

The victim, who had been beaten in the face, was being treated at the hospital. His injuries were not life threatening, according to police.
