STUDIO CITY (CBS) — For such a benign forecast, there are some complicated intricacies at play over the next couple of days.
A trough is about to bottom out over the Southland, which will keep our temperatures in check Friday and Saturday.
The big weather feature as we head into the weekend is our marine layer. There are some patchy low clouds across the area this morning, abut I expect most everyone to break out into some sunshine this afternoon.
Nevertheless, our temperatures should remain below average Friday. By Saturday, as this trough passes, we start to experience a slight off-shore flow. However, at the beach there is a coastal eddy spinning up, which would keep some low clouds in place. That will continue to keep our temperatures on the cooler side in the coastal plain, while inland temperatures rise a bit.
By Sunday, a cut-off low develops and drifts over Southern California and moves down to Baja.
Depending on the placement of the low pressure center, we could get a decent off-shore flow. That would warm us up a bunch into next week, but there are a lot of “ifs” in the forecast. For now, enjoy a mellow weekend.
