Los Angeles Man Faces Federal Charges Of Selling Heroin, Guns To ATF Informant

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Federal agents have arrested a Los Angeles man on charges of heroin possession after he sold 31 firearms to confidential informant.

A federal complaint alleges Dario Jorge Herrera, 46, sold heroin and 31 firearms to a confidential informant during an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the LAPD and the Drug Enforcement Agency in 2011.

Agents serving a federal search warrant on Herrera's business at 8419 South Central Avenue in Los Angeles found 11 pounds of suspected heroin and seven firearms.

"This investigation is far from over; ATF will now determine where those firearms came from and how they ended up in Herrera's possession," said Steven J. Bogdalek, special agent in charge of ATF's Los Angeles Field Division, in a statement.

Herrera is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at the U.S. District Court.
