GARDEN GROVE (CBS) —  One person died and two others were taken to trauma centers in critical condition following a head-on collision in Garden Grove Wednesday.

The collision occurred on the Bolsa Chica Road overpass over the San Diego (405) Freeway at 8:33 p.m., said Marc Stone of the Orange County Fire Authority.

Stone said he did not know who was in which car.

A firefighter told a cameraman that high speed was a factor in the collision, calling it a particularly violent collision.

The Garden Grove Police Department will handle the investigation, Stone said.
