LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A 23-year-old man was found fatally shot in a car that crashed into a building near Westchester, police said Saturday.
A witness reported the crash about 11 p.m. Friday on Centinela Avenue near La Cienega Boulevard, and the man died as paramedics transported him to a hospital, Los Angeles police Sgt. Richard Parks said.
The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin, was shot in the back, he said.
“When paramedics got there he was in a pretty bad way,” Parks said, adding that police were still trying to figure out where the actual shooting took place.
The Toyota Camry driven by the victim came to rest against a pillar outside a vacant storefront, a videographer reported from the scene.
