Downed Power Lines, Weather-Related Outages Cut Service To Thousands

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — About 900 customers were without power in scattered outages throughout Los Angeles Wednesday evening.

Downed wires caused by a fallen tree in the 900 block of Forest Avenue in Boyle Heights cut power to about 2,100 customers. Service was restored to all customers by 11:15 p.m., according to Jane Galbraith of the Department of Water and Power.

About 645 customers were without power in South Los Angeles due to an outage centered on 48th Street, Galbraith said.

Other scattered outages, which she said were also weather related, affected customers in and around downtown and the Eastside, Galbraith said.

Crews were working to restore service, but there was no estimate on when their work would be complete, Galbraith said.
