Suspect Fatally Shot By Guard During Robbery Identified
FONTANA (AP) — A robbery suspect who was fatally shot by a security guard at a busy Southern California swap meet has been identified as a 24-year-old Compton man.
San Bernardino County coroner's officials said Saturday that Roy Ezell Davis was among three masked men who pistol whipped the guard before entering the indoor swap meet in Fontana Friday.
Police said the men tried to break jewelry cases but weren't able to steal anything. They were confronted by the guard as they tried to flee and the guard shot and killed Davis.
The other two suspects remained at large.
The guard was taken to a hospital, where he was expected to make a full recovery.
