VICTORVILLE (CBS) — A bobcat that was stuck on a Victorville telephone pole is now down.

Residents near Tawney Ridge Road discovered what they thought was a stray cat Monday morning. A closer look revealed a young bobcat.

Animal control officers responded, but they did not go up to rescue the cat. They say the animals use the poles for protection and that its safer to let them find their own way down.

It appears the cat figured it out because on Tuesday morning, it was gone.
