Best Buy Announces Plans To Close 4 Southland Locations

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Best Buy has confirmed plans to close four Southland locations.

The electronics chain Saturday announced its plans to close the following stores:

• 10861 Weyburn Avenue in Westwood;
• East 27220 Eucalyptus in Moreno Valley;
• 4120 E 4th Street in Ontario, and;
• 2857 Park Avenue in Tustin.

The move follows a previous announcement by the chain that it plans to close a total of 50 stores across the country this next year "as part of number of key initiatives for this year," said Best Buy spokeswoman Kelly Groehler in a statement released.

Nationwide, 400 employees are expected to be laid off.

Best Buy says that the closures are part of a broader restructuring aimed at reducing costs by $80 million.

The locations in the LA-area are expected to close by May 12.
