DUI Suspect Arrested In Death Of Hit-And-Run Death Of Woman Riding Scooter

GARDEN GROVE (CBS) — A 30-year-old woman was killed while riding her scooter on Chapman Avenue near Euclid Street Thursday night.

The woman was traveling east on Chapman when her scooter and an SUV collided just after 8:30 p.m.

Authorities say the driver, 43-year-old Steven Newcomer of Santa Ana, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Newcomber initially fled the scene, but officers found him near the scene of the accident, officers said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was lying on the sidewalk when paramedics arrived.

She was later declared dead at a local hospital.
