LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Reports of $3.99 per gallon of regular gasoline are trickling in Thursday after four straight weeks of declining gas prices.
Gas prices under $4 are mostly being reported in Paramount and Downey, according to LosAngelesGasPrices.com.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County is at $4.268, 4.6 cents less than last week, 12.6 cents lower than last month, but 8 cents higher than this time last year, according to the Automobile Club. In Orange County, that same gallon of gas is down 5.1 cents to $4.241 and in Riverside-San Bernardino counties, it’s at $4.267, down 3.7 cents from last week.
“A little more price competition appears to be happening among gas stations, which is good news for drivers,” Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring said in a statement. “Drivers can help encourage further price reductions by shopping around for the best prices, as long as they’re not driving far out of their way.”
Thursday’s decline in gas prices was the 21st in the past 22 days.
