1 Dead, 1 Seriously Hurt In Muscoy Hit-And-Run

MORENO VALLEY (CBS)  — A Moreno Valley man was one of two pedestrians run over by a hit-and-run motorist in Muscoy, a coroner's spokesman said Sunday.

David Daniel Ortiz, 29, was one of two pedestrians found injured just before 5 p.m. Saturday on West Third Avenue near Vermont Street in Muscoy, the coroner said.

Ortiz was initially taken to the emergency room at Community Hospital of San Bernardino, and then to the Loma Linda University Medical Center. The San Bernardino County coroner's office said he was pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m.

The other pedestrian was seriously hurt, but was not publicly identified.

Deputies were investigating the incident as a hit-and-run, and said a late-90s model green Chevrolet Tahoe may have been involved, a San Bernardino County sheriff's spokesman said.

The sheriff's homicide unit was investigating, he said.
