Search Continues For Truck Driver Suspected In Fatal Westminster Crash

WESTMINSTER (CBS) — Police in Westminster are continuing their search for a driver suspected in a collision that claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman and left two others injured.

Jessica Dayoan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 5 p.m. Thursday, on Hoover Street south of Hazard Avenue.

According to police, Dayoan was the passenger in her brother Jorel's red compact Toyota that may have been racing a gray Dodge truck with large wheels.

Police say Jorel was racing against the truck when he lost control and then collided with a gray Honda. Both Jorel and the driver of the Honda suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"It's tragic and if we determine that the driver was involved in a street race, that this accident happened as a result of any carelessness or recklessness, he can certainly be looking at manslaughter," said Cpl. Van Woodson of the Westminster Police Department.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Westminster Police Department.
