Police Hunt For Teen Who Allegedly Hit His Grandma In Head With Shovel

SAN JACINTO (CBS) — A 16-year-old broke into his elderly grandmother's San Jacinto home, hit her in the back of the head with a shovel and fled, a sheriff's department spokesman said Saturday.

The woman, whose actual age was not disclosed, said she was sleeping on the sofa in her home in the 1800 block of South Santa Fe Avenue when she heard someone kicking on her back door, according to a sheriff's sergeant. The alleged incident occurred at 11:40 p.m. Friday.

The grandson forced his way into the home and began arguing with the woman, and when she tried to call for help, the teen struck her in the back of the head with a shovel, the sergeant said.

The teen fled in an unknown direction.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries, the sergeant said.

The sheriff's department asked anyone with information about the incident to call (951) 654-2792.
