VICTORVILLE (CBS) — A High Desert church plans on performing a small miracle this Easter weekend — providing gas for under $4 a gallon.

As they did last year, the Destiny Christian Center is sponsoring a discount gas sale Saturday.

Church members raised enough money that the Shell gas station at La Paz and Valley Center Drives can afford to lower the price to all consumers by $1 from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday (or until they run out of fuel.)

KCAL9′s Jeff Nguyen reports workers at the Shell station are already prepping for what is promising to be a busy and intense day.

The church’s pastor — Dr. Jesse Giddens — came up with the idea last year during Easter — which marks the resurrection of Christ.

He says it’s his way of helping the community rise during this holy weekend.
