Suspect Dressed As DWP Worker Sought In Valley Home Burglary

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police on Friday alerted residents in the San Fernando Valley about a distraction burglary suspect who may be posing as a Department of Water & Power employee.

A man dressed in a tan jacket, pants and boots with a tan hat that read "LADWP" and an earpiece in his right ear approached the victim and directed her to the backyard of her residence, according to the LAPD Topanga Division.

Meanwhile, an additional suspect or suspects entered her residence and removed the victim's jewelry from her bedroom.

The first suspect then ended his conversation with the victim and left the residence. Moments later, a white work truck with a possible city seal on door and orange utility cones in the rear drove away from her home.

The suspect was described as a male Hispanic with dark hair, 5'4" to 5'6" in height and weighing about 150 pounds, and between 50 and 60 years old.

Anyone who spots the suspect is asked to immediately dial 911.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to contact Detectives Parra at (818) 756-5846. During off-hours, contact the Detective Information Desk at (877) LAPD-247 or text the word "LAPD" and your message to "Crimes".
