The incident occurred shortly after 10:15 a.m. at Del Rosa and Highland when a male deputy was shot in the leg, according to sheriff’s spokesperson Cindy Bachman.
He was alert and talking as he was transported to St. Bernardine Medical Center for treatment, Bachman said.
The male suspected, wanted for a robbery and rape in Yucaipa, was killed in the shooting.
A female suspect was also shot, but authorities did not have any immediate update on her status.
