Thieves Steal $7K Worth Of Tools From Encino Little League

ENCINO (CBS) — Los Angeles police Tuesday appealed to the public to help them find the suspect or suspects who stole more than $7,000 worth of landscaping equipment and tools from a shed at the Encino Little League field.

The burglary occurred sometime between Friday at 4 p.m. and 7:45 a.m. Tuesday at 5120 Hayvenhurst Ave.

The shed was accessed via roof air vent.

An unknown suspect entered the shed through the roof, police said. The suspect removed the roof air vent to gain entry. Once inside, the suspect was able to unlock the front door and remove a number of landscaping tools and equipment, including a leaf blower, hedge trimmer, chain saw, weed trimmers, pressure washer and other tools needed to maintain the field.

The theft of the equipment and tools is causing a "huge burden on the players and community members who utilize this facility," police said.

Police have no information on a suspect or vehicle involved in the theft, but they do know that the suspect would have to be small in order to have gained entry through the air vent.

Anyone with information was asked to call West Valley Area Detective Tracey Angeles at (818) 374-7730.
