Police Search For Suspect In Sexual Assault Of Girl, 7

COVINA (CBS) — Police are looking for a sexual predator who assaulted a 7-year-old girl outside of her home over the weekend.

The suspect reportedly approached the girl while she was in her family's driveway Saturday evening, waiting for a neighbor to come play with her.

"He grabbed her, put his hand over her mouth and dragged her right here where I cut the bushes down, basically tried groping her," Jason Gatfield, the girl's father, said.

The girl managed to bite his hand and escape while a neighbor screamed for help.

"I consider my little girl a hero 'cause he stopped and let go," Gatfield said.

The attackers drove away in a 2005 burgundy Nissan Altima with paper plates that read "WONDRIES" in black and green lettering. Wondries is a car dealership.

The suspect is described as a white male between 18 and 40 years old.

Covina police are asking anyone who might recognize the car or knows the attacker to contact them at (626) 384-5623.
